Humber School for Writers Letter of Distinction
Chyx was awarded a Letter of Distinction by the Humber School for Writers' Creative Writing Graduate Certificate Program. The Letter of Distinction is awarded to those who have shown superior writing merit.
Thank you to my amazing Humber mentor, Danila Botha, for helping me make my stories magical.
Diaspora Dialogues Long-Form Mentorship program

Chyx has been selected as a mentee for the Diaspora Dialogues' Long-Form mentorship program.
The long-form mentorship program matches mentees with established Canadian authors to work together for six months on a full-length manuscript.
Alumni of the DD mentorship include, among many other fantastic authors, Catherine Hernandez, author of Behind You, The Story of Us, and Scarborough; Derek Mascarenhas, author of The Mango Monster and Coconut Dreams; and Mai Nguyen, author of Sunshine Nails.

Shortlisted!
Chyx's manuscript, The Letter A, has been shortlisted for the Jim Wong-Chu Emerging Writers Award.
The award was originally established in 1999 as the Emerging Writers Award. It was renamed in 2017 as the Jim Wong-Chu Emerging Writers Award in honour of Asian Canadian writing pioneer and mentor Jim Wong-Chu.
Past winners include Madeleine Thien, winner of the 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize, Rita Wong, Philip Huynh, Catherine Hernandez, Karla Comanda, Jamie Liew and Jinwoo Park.

Chyx has been selected as a mentee for the Writers' Union of Canada 2024 BIPOC Connect, one of thirty writers selected from across Canada!
On Oct 17, they will be working on their manuscript with their mentor, Angel Di Zhang, and meet with other industry professionals and other writers.

My first publication!
The 2024 Saints & Sinners Anthology containing a short story based on the Chapters 1 & 2 of my manuscript.
The anthology is published by the Rebel Satori Press, a U.S.-based publisher established in 2002 dedicated to amplifying LGBTQIA+ voices and expanding diversity.
