(They/Them)

Chyx Xyng (pronounced “Chase Zing”) is a Toronto-based writer. Chyx's manuscript, The Letter A, is the runner-up of the 2025 Jim Wong-Chu Emerging Writers Award. A short story based on the first two chapters of their manuscript is a finalist in the 2024 Saints & Sinners (SAS) literary festival writing competition and is included in an anthology published by Rebel Satori PressIn addition, Chyx has been selected as a mentee for The Writers' Union of Canada 2024 BIPOC Writers Connect, and the 2025 Diaspora Dialogues' long-form mentorship program.

Chyx graduated from the Humber School for Writers Graduate Certificate Program with a Letter of Distinction, an award given to those who have shown superior writing merit. They are currently working on a genre-nonconforming novel consisting of several interwoven stories exploring gender dysphoria, forbidden love, and acceptance over three generations of gender-nonconformists.

In their free time, Chyx practices three styles of martial arts, which coincidentally, are practiced by some pretty kickass characters in Chyx’s novels and short stories.
